Made Redundant A Nightmare or An Opportunity To Thrive?

Being made redundant, or even the thought that it could happen to you can be an extremely stressful and difficult time.

It can make you feel as though you have lost control of your life.

Thoughts of looming bills, mortgage payments and other obligations can often cause a downwards spiral into an emotional tailspin of fear, panic and other difficult emotions.

However, being made redundant can actually be an amazing opportunity to move forward in your life in many different ways.  Personally, I look back at it as one of the defining moments that propelled me into living a life that I love on my own terms.

Whether you are dealing with the stress of looming redundancy, have been made redundant and are looking for a new job or are considering a lifestyle change such as starting your own business, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, or Tapping) can be a phenomenal tool to empower you.

So how can EFT help you if you are being or have been made redundant?

If being made redundant is looming

Many people find this to be a particularly stressful time.  Fear is a very low emotional state that can bring out the worst in people as they subconsciously enter into ‘fight or flight’ mode.

Insecurity and paranoia can run rife and colleagues that got on well in the past suddenly find themselves watching their backs, especially if it is known that some people will be keeping their jobs.

Very capable and talented people will find their worry about the future being blown out of all proportion as they go into survival mode.  In this situation, EFT can enable you to feel calm and connect to the present moment.

Any worries about the future can feel as though they have dissolved and you can approach each day with grace and ease, able to make full use of all resources.

If there are any ‘bugbears’ from your past that are triggered by the thought of being made redundant, these can also be cleared, enabling you to be at your best, whatever is thrown at you.

If you have been made redundant and want to find a new job

Losing your job can have a massive emotional impact.  It can drain your self-esteem, make you angry and resentful and send you into panic mode and desperation.

It is not a strong look if you want to impress at interviews and on telephone calls and can lead you to feel overwhelmed and procrastinate.

This could prevent you from writing letters, creating a high quality CV and networking with the right people.

Again, EFT can be really useful here, as it can enable you to clear the blocks to taking action that your subconscious could put in the way.

Underlying issues, for example a long-standing fear of rejection can be cleared and you can use tapping before any interviews to be calm and at your best.

There are even techniques that you can use to imprint a positive future into your mind and body that will draw you towards a good outcome.

As well as this, one of the amazing things about tapping is that it can actually reprogram the way you experience the world. You may start to see opportunities where you used to see threats and you become more resourceful and open to possibilities.

This has the effect that it suddenly seems as though you are meeting the right people, going to the right places and spotting unusual opportunities that seem almost magical and certainly synchronistic in nature.

A great example of this was a previous client of mine who went from having an administrative job, completely out of tune with who she is to finding an amazing job at a holistic centre for horses, which is exactly in line with her passion, within just a few days of using tapping to get clear on what she wanted.

Made redundant and want to use this opportunity to become your own boss

If you have wanted to become self-employed, being made redundant can be the perfect opportunity.

You may have received a tax free lump sum that could support you in your new venture.  However, if this is your first foray into self-employment, there is a lot to learn.

EFT can be really useful for enabling you to keep focused on your objectives as, once you are solely working for yourself, it can be easy to lose motivation and find yourself ‘busy doing nothing’.

In addition, if you are used to a busy office environment, self-employment can feel lonely at times and if this triggers anything from your past, EFT can be a great way to move through this.

Again, you may find that the more you tap, the more things seem to fall into place.  You meet the right people, find new information and get really clear on what you want.

This will enable your powerful subconscious mind to really draw you towards the future that you desire.  Like a phoenix, you can rise from the flames and soar into your life of choice and I salute you for doing so.

To summarise, whatever situation you find yourself in with being made redundant, EFT and other techniques of energy psychology can be incredibly useful in so many ways.  The examples above only scratch the surface of just how powerful these techniques can be in changing your life, no matter what your individual story is.

I have been made redundant twice myself and I know that it can be an amazing opportunity to grow and become more of who you truly are meant to be.

I’d love to hear about your experiences of redundancy – was it scary, exciting or both? What happened? And, if this is something that is happening to you and you’d like some guidance, I’d love to support you in creating the best possible outcome.
